CITY GUIDE · FLORENCE
A guide to the Florence hotels we know, from palazzo stays beside the Arno to villas in the hills.
Most of these hotels fall into four groups. The Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and Via de' Tornabuoni area suits first-time visitors who want to walk everywhere. Piazza Ognissanti and the Lungarno on the north bank put you on the Arno near the Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi. Santa Maria Novella, around the station, is practical for train arrivals and has several newer hotels. Across the river in the Oltrarno, Villa Cora and Hotel Lungarno are quieter, and a few properties such as Il Salviatino, Collegio alla Querce, Villa La Massa and Dimora Ghirlandaio sit in the hills or countryside, where a car or taxi helps.
Reference rates: nightly, 2 adults in one room, before tax, across four dates a year; from about US$82 a night. Compare all Florence hotels with perks in one table: Florence reference rates.
