Four Seasons Hotel Osaka – One MICHELIN Key, a 36th-Floor City-View Pool and a Whole Tatami Floor, at About Half the Price of Four Seasons Tokyo

Four Seasons Hotel Osaka opened on August 1, 2024, the first Four Seasons hotel in Osaka, and earned one MICHELIN Key in its second year. The hotel occupies floors 28 to 37 of the ONE DOJIMA tower in Dojima, with 175 rooms, 27 of them suites. On price it is far friendlier than Four Seasons Tokyo. We checked a 3-night stay from November 9, 2026: entry-level rooms at Four Seasons Osaka start at US$411 per night, while the same night costs US$943 at Four Seasons Tokyo at Marunouchi and US$843 at Four Seasons Otemachi, roughly double.

The short version

  1. Location: Dojima. It is about a 5-minute walk to Nishi-Umeda Station, 6 minutes to JR Kitashinchi Station and 10 minutes to Osaka Station, convenient for Umeda shopping and for trips around the Kansai region.
  2. Rooms: standard rooms are all 43 sq m or larger, and the 28th floor is the all-tatami "Gensui" floor, the one to pick if you want a Japanese-style stay.
  3. Food and drink: the 37th floor has the Cantonese restaurant Jiang Nan Chun, Yannick Alléno's Sushi L'Abysse and Bar Bota; the ground floor has the French Jardin and the bakery Farine.
  4. Booking: through the Four Seasons accredited advisor channel you get daily breakfast for two, a US$100 hotel credit and a priority upgrade on arrival if a room is available. There is also a current offer of a free third night on stays of 3 nights, valid for stays through the end of 2030.

Location: On the Dojima River, a Walk from Umeda

The hotel is in ONE DOJIMA, a 49-story mixed-use tower designed by Nikken Sekkei. The upper part of the same building is the privately sold residences Brillia Tower Dojima. The hotel occupies floors 1 and 2 and floors 28 to 37: the ground floor has the lobby, Jardin, the bakery Farine and the welcome tea lounge CHA, the 2nd floor is the ballroom, floors 28 to 35 are guest rooms, the 36th floor has the pool, spa and gym, and the 37th floor has Jiang Nan Chun, Sushi L'Abysse and Bar Bota.

For access, the closest station is Nishi-Umeda on the Yotsubashi Line, about a 5-minute walk; JR Kitashinchi Station on the JR Tozai Line is about 6 minutes; Osaka Station and the Umeda lines are about 10 to 12 minutes on foot. Shin-Osaka Station is about 15 minutes by car, Itami Airport a little over 20 minutes, and Kansai Airport about 50 minutes by taxi. Dotonbori and Osaka Castle are a dozen or so minutes by subway, and trips to Kyoto, Nara and Kobe all leave from Umeda or Shin-Osaka, so it makes a good base for a Kansai itinerary.

Also in the Umeda area, we have written before about the Marriott Autograph Collection hotel above Osaka Station. The two have quite different characters and are worth comparing: our stay report on The Osaka Station Hotel.

Rooms: 43 Square Meters Even at Entry Level

Standard rooms at Four Seasons Osaka are all 43 sq m or larger, spacious for a Japanese city hotel. Guest rooms are on floors 28 to 35, and the higher the floor and the more corners, the higher the price. Below are the main room types. The reference rates are the prices we checked on September 18, 2026 for a November 9 check-in (per night, before taxes and fees):

Room Type Size Floors View Reference Rate (per night)
Superior Room 43-46 sq m Floors 29-31 City view US$411
Deluxe Room 43-46 sq m Floors 32-35 Osaka skyline US$449

The entry-level Superior Room is on floors 29 to 31 and is entirely adequate for one or two guests. If the budget allows, we suggest starting at the Deluxe Room: it costs only about US$38 more per night, and the floor jumps straight up to 32 to 35, with a noticeably wider view. If you want a river view, choose the Four Seasons Corner Room, with two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking both the city and the Yodo River.

In some room types the tub sits right against the floor-to-ceiling window, so you can see the whole sweep of buildings while you soak.

The 28th-Floor "Gensui": A Whole Floor of Modern Ryokan

The most distinctive thing about this Four Seasons is the GENSUI floor on the 28th. The entire floor is tatami rooms, 18 tatami guest rooms plus 3 tatami suites, and guests have their own SABO tea lounge, where they can have a Japanese breakfast and tea. Room types range from the 44 to 51 sq m Tatami Premier Room to a 104 sq m two-bedroom suite.

If you want a Japanese inn experience without making a special trip to an onsen town, this floor is a good compromise: tatami and low beds in the room, and Umeda right downstairs. Prices start at US$650 per night, quite a bit more than standard rooms, so ask early for peak season.

Restaurants and Bars: The 37th Floor Is the Draw

The hotel has five dining venues, plus two tea spaces:

  • Jiang Nan Chun: 37th floor, Cantonese cuisine and dim sum, with chef Raymond Wong Wai Man. It is listed in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Kyoto Osaka (selected restaurant, no star).
  • Sushi L'Abysse Osaka Yannick Alléno: 37th floor, a brand of French chef Yannick Alléno that puts Edomae sushi and French cuisine in a single omakase, with sushi chef Itaru Yasuda. It opened in October 2024, the third location after Paris and Monte Carlo.
  • Bar Bota: a bar on the 37th floor focused on cocktails and Japanese whisky and gin. A new drinks menu launched in August 2026, including the Kansai Tonic made with plum wine and shiso.
  • Jardin: a French bistro on the ground floor, where breakfast and afternoon tea are served, with an outdoor terrace full of plants.
  • Farine: a bakery and pastry shop on the ground floor, with takeout.
  • CHA: the welcome tea lounge on the ground floor, where guests can have a cup of Japanese tea on arrival.
  • SABO: a tea lounge reserved for guests on the 28th-floor Gensui level.

Pool, Spa and Japanese Baths

The whole 36th floor is given over to wellness facilities: a 16-meter indoor heated pool with a vitality pool; The Spa with 5 treatment rooms, including a couples' room with a private bath; separate men's and women's Japanese Ofuro baths and a dry sauna; and 2 private baths that can be reserved. The gym is open 24 hours.

Note that the hotel does not say the Japanese baths here are natural hot springs. For an authentic onsen you still need to go to Arima or Kinosaki.

What to Know If You Are Traveling with Children

  • Children under 18 sharing a bed with their parents are not charged extra within the room's occupancy limit; an extra bed is charged separately.
  • For breakfast at Jardin, children 4 and under are free and ages 5 to 12 are half price.
  • The pool has no minimum age, but children under 4 must wear swim diapers and those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times; the gym, Japanese baths, sauna and spa are for ages 16 and up.
  • The hotel can provide cribs, bed rails and bottle sterilizers, and the rooms have puzzles, crayons and coloring paper for children.
  • Booking platforms list the hotel as not accepting pets, so confirm with the hotel first if you plan to bring one.

What You Get Extra When You Book Through an Accredited Advisor

Four Seasons Hotel Osaka is on the Four Seasons Preferred Partner list for accredited advisors. Booking through the advisor channel, the room rate is the same as the public rate on the hotel's website, but every stay adds the following:

  • Daily breakfast for two
  • A US$100 hotel credit per stay, usable at restaurants, bars or the spa
  • A priority upgrade on arrival if a room is available
  • Early check-in and late checkout if available

The hotel also has a current offer of a free third night on stays of 3 nights, which must be booked at least 7 days in advance, for stay dates through December 31, 2030. Using the same November 9 check-in for 3 nights: the Superior Room is US$411 per night, US$1,571 for 3 nights including tax, and after the free third night about US$1,047 actually paid, an average of about US$349 per night. The rate we found is refundable, with free cancellation until 7 days before check-in (November 2).

During cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons, Osaka rates rise noticeably, but the free-third-night structure stays the same, and the higher the rate, the more that one night saves.
