Four Seasons Resort Red Sea Opens in Saudi Arabia: 149 Rooms and Suites and a 1.3 km Private Beach

On the eastern tip of Shura Island on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea, the first guests arrived on May 20, 2026 – Four Seasons Resort and Residences Red Sea at Shura Island officially opened, with 149 rooms and suites plus 31 Resort Residences. It is the first resort developed as a 50/50 joint venture between Red Sea Global and Kingdom Holding Company, at a total project cost of SAR 2.6 billion, and it is also Four Seasons' first beachfront resort in Saudi Arabia.

Four Seasons' other project in Saudi Arabia, AMAALA Triple Bay, is still in preparation. The general manager is in place, but it has not yet opened.

Design

The resort covers 4.8 hectares at the eastern end of Shura Island, with sea on three sides and the longest continuous stretch of beach on the island: 1.3 km of swimmable shoreline, plus a sandbar reaching into the lagoon. The whole island runs entirely on renewable energy, and the water treatment and waste management systems were built to Red Sea Global's regenerative tourism standards.

The architecture is by Foster + Partners, inspired by a desert caravan. Groups of freestanding buildings with wood texture spread along the coastline, their rooflines unfolding in waves and blending with the surrounding dunes and palm trees. From Red Sea International Airport (RSI), it is about 25 minutes by electric vehicle.

Rooms

First, a correction to a claim going around: the 149 rooms and suites do not all face the sea. The official room types fall into three tiers, garden view, sea view and beachfront, plus a one-bedroom suite, the Grand Sea-View Suite, and a three-bedroom presidential suite with a formal dining room, kitchen, private gym, terrace and plunge pool. If you want to step out the door onto the sand, look for the beachfront tier.

The other 31 Resort Residences are freehold villas with three to five bedrooms, 414 to 534 square meters, with a private infinity pool and terrace, and one-bedroom units start at about SAR 11.95 million (about US$3.19 million). Beyond the resort, 75 private villas are planned on the island, between the resort and Shura Links, Saudi Arabia's first island golf course.

Dining

The resort has six restaurants and bars, and none serve alcohol – know this before you book. Alcohol is banned throughout Saudi Arabia; it is not this hotel's choice.

Sea Green is the all-day restaurant, focused on plant-based dining, with Arabic coffee and freshly baked bread. Al Forn takes a Levantine approach, using traditional Arab kitchen methods. Spiaggia Restaurant & Pool is open-air Italian cooking by the pool, with Spiaggia Beach Bar next to it. Vivi specializes in Mediterranean seafood and aged meats and is not expected to open until the end of 2026.

Spa and Activities

The spa has 8 treatment rooms, including indoor and outdoor treatment pavilions, a couples' suite, a stone hammam, a hydrotherapy pool and an ice cave, plus a 24-hour gym.

The resort has three pools, split into an adults' pool, a family pool and a quiet pool, and the beach is also divided into a family beach and an adults' beach, a finer split than most resorts of this level. There are also tennis and padel courts, and a marine discovery center – guests can take part in coral and mangrove restoration work, the practical side of Red Sea Global's regenerative tourism approach. Children and teens each have their own activity programs.

Price

Opening rates start at SAR 2,975 per night, about US$793; short stays or peak dates rise to around SAR 3,500, about US$933. That is low for a Four Seasons island resort – Four Seasons Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru starts at about US$1,524 a night, roughly double.

The reason is not hard to guess: a new destination needs to fill rooms during the opening window, and the most direct way is to keep prices low. The Red Sea has 11 hotels open now, and Shura Island alone has six more opening in the coming months, so supply is jumping and a price war is hard to avoid in the short term. How long this price lasts is hard to say and worth watching.

How to Book

Four Seasons has no loyalty points program of its own, so this resort can only be booked with cash; there is no points redemption route. All the value therefore comes down to the room rate and the booking channel – for the same money, what you get differs a lot depending on where you book.

We are accredited Four Seasons Preferred Partner (FSPP) travel advisors. Booking through us, the room rate is the same as booking direct on the hotel's website, and the stay usually also includes daily breakfast for two, an upgrade subject to availability, a hotel credit of about US$100, and early check-in and late checkout. Suites and villas come with additional perks. These are not available through public channels, and they cost nothing extra.

Conclusion

This Four Seasons on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea is low-density, with six restaurants none of which serve alcohol and a full set of family facilities, aimed at families and the local Middle Eastern market. Think through two things before you book: first, there is no alcohol anywhere, and second, not all 149 rooms face the sea, so you have to choose a room type for a sea view.

If neither bothers you, the opening rate really is a price rarely seen at a Four Seasons island resort in recent years. Book with us at the cash rate and you get all the perks.
