CITY GUIDE · LANGKAWI
4 resorts around the island, with reference rates and perks from the hotel.
Langkawi is an archipelago of 104 islands, and the four resorts on our list are spread around the main island. The Datai Langkawi sits in rainforest at Datai Bay and suits travellers who want nature and a golf course close by. Four Seasons Resort Langkawi is on the north-eastern cape of Tanjung Rhu, facing the Andaman Sea along about 1.5 km of private beach. The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi is on the southwest coast at Teluk Nibong and suits families and couples, while The St. Regis Langkawi sits in a private cove with a lagoon, about 30 minutes from the airport. Because the resorts are far apart, we would choose one and stay put rather than hop between them.
Reference rates: nightly, 2 adults in one room, before tax, across four dates a year; from about US$354 a night.

The resort sits on the north-eastern cape of Tanjung Rhu, with about 1.5 km of private beach facing the Andaman Sea, and Bill Bensley's studio designed its pavilions and villas in a Malay kampong style. It holds two Michelin Keys, and we would suggest it for beach-first stays for couples and families.
