The Lake Como EDITION in Cadenabbia on Lake Como, Italy officially opened in March 2026. It is the newest Italian flagship of Marriott's EDITION brand and one of the largest luxury hotels on Lake Como. With 148 rooms and suites, the hotel occupies a historic 19th-century building that has been extensively renovated and now appears in a whole new form.

The EDITION Flagship on Lake Como

The Lake Como EDITION was formerly the Britannia Excelsior Hotel and, after an extensive renovation, debuts under the EDITION brand. This 19th-century historic building keeps its original facade in cream, butter and terracotta tones. Inside, the well-known design studios Neri&Hu and De.Tales have combined classical arcades with modern terrazzo floors and marble staircases, creating a restrained, refined contemporary luxury style.

The hotel has 148 rooms, including 25 suites and 2 penthouse suites, plus 9 rooms in the Villa Gina annex. 148 rooms is large for Lake Como, where most boutique hotels have fewer than 100, which gives the Lake Como EDITION an advantage when hosting larger travel groups. Rooms have custom walnut bed frames and headboards with curved sofas designed by Neri&Hu, bathrooms are finished in Calacatta Gold stone, and the lake-view rooms keep the original restored French balconies.

Dining and Spa

For dining, the Lake Como EDITION has brought in three-Michelin-star chef Mauro Colagreco to open his first restaurant in Italy, Cetino, serving creative dishes inspired by lake fish, seafood and mountain produce. In addition, the outdoor pergola restaurant Renzo serves all-day Italian cuisine, and the pool bar and lobby bar each offer light bites and finely mixed cocktails, for four dining venues in all. For the spa, the hotel has brought in The Longevity Suite brand, with 7 treatment rooms (including a couples suite), a Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath, an indoor heated pool and a cold plunge pool, combined with biohacking therapies for a high-end wellness experience rarely seen on Lake Como.

Seasonal Operation: Spring to Fall Each Year

Like many hotels on Lake Como, the Lake Como EDITION operates seasonally, closing from late fall until the following spring and opening only during the tourist season each year. 2026 is the first full tourist season since the hotel officially opened, so if you plan to go, plan your trip ahead and avoid the winter closure.

Redeeming Bonvoy Points: Note the EDITION Benefit Quirks

EDITION is Marriott's "modern luxury" brand, aimed at a younger audience than the Ritz-Carlton, and it has some special features in Marriott Bonvoy elite benefits: EDITION hotels do not offer the free breakfast benefit (even for Platinum members and above), so breakfast is charged separately. In addition, Standard Reward point redemption availability may be limited in peak season because of high demand. Even so, as a Bonvoy redemption destination, the Lake Como EDITION requires a relatively reasonable number of points per night, making it one of the better choices for staying on points on Lake Como.

Conclusion

Lake Como has been one of Europe's hottest luxury destinations in recent years, and the EDITION brand settling here means Bonvoy members have one more good-looking points redemption option in this beautiful place. If you plan to visit the northern Italian lakes in 2026, the Lake Como EDITION is worth planning for early.
