Latest Update

Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol has officially opened as Hyatt's first property in Mexico, and World of Hyatt points bookings are open starting today.

May 20, 2026 (taking effect soon): World of Hyatt's new five-tier points pricing chart goes live, and top Category 8 hotels may cost up to 75,000 points per night, so we suggest locking in your stay early.

Hotel Basics

Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol sits in the private Cabo del Sol community in Los Cabos, Mexico, right next to Cabo San Lucas, an area known worldwide for its blue Pacific waters and top-tier resort atmosphere. The hotel has 163 all-ocean-view rooms and suites and 19 private villas, and its core facilities include:

  • All-ocean-view rooms and suites overlooking the Pacific
  • Multiple outdoor pools and direct beach access
  • Araya Spa (opening in the first quarter of 2026)
  • Multiple restaurants, including the signature Silán, focused on Levantine fusion cuisine (opening in spring 2026)
  • Priority booking at the world-class Cabo del Sol golf courses

World of Hyatt Points Redemption Analysis

Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol is currently Category 8 (the highest category) in the World of Hyatt points system, with standard rooms costing 35,000–45,000 points per night. From May 20, 2026, Hyatt will launch a new five-tier points pricing chart, with the top Category 8 nights reaching up to 75,000 points, and high-end resort properties are first in line. We suggest those who want to redeem lock in their stay early to avoid the repricing risk.

Holders of the World of Hyatt credit card (issued by Chase) can earn 1 free night certificate each year (Category 1-4) plus additional spend-based bonus certificates; although these can't directly cover Category 8 Cabo del Sol, you can use points earned on the card to redeem.

Getting to Los Cabos

Los Cabos has an international airport (SJD) with direct service from several airlines. It is about 2 hours from the US West Coast (Los Angeles LAX), and about 3–5 hours from central and eastern US cities (Dallas DFW, Chicago ORD, New York JFK and others). From Canada, both Vancouver (YVR) and Toronto (YYZ) have seasonal direct flights.

Conclusion

Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol is one of the most noteworthy new top-end properties in the Hyatt points system in recent years, and the combination of a Pacific resort destination and Hyatt's flagship brand is very appealing to points travelers.

Given that the new points chart takes effect on May 20, 2026 and Category 8 high-end hotel pricing will rise substantially, we suggest acting early to lock in your redemption.
