The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike, Autograph Collection, in the north of Kyoto, has put out a stay-4, 4th-night-free offer in Marriott's preferred partner program. You can book until March 28, 2027, and stay through March 31, 2027. Apart from the two nights of December 31, 2026 and January 1, 2027, it covers essentially the whole winter and early cherry blossom season.
We checked a 4-night stay from February 1, 2027: a king room with daily breakfast for two is US$92 a night (before tax). With the free 4th night removed, the room charge including service charge and consumption tax comes to about US$348; adding Kyoto's accommodation tax, paid separately at the hotel, the 4 nights total about US$363, or about US$91 a night.
For the same dates, the cheapest Marriott member rate without breakfast is US$396.79 for 4 nights; the member rate that also includes breakfast for two is US$548.20 (neither yet includes the accommodation tax). The rate with breakfast comes out cheaper than the one without, which is interesting.
One reminder: this check is for February low-season prices. Japanese hotel prices run much higher in cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons, so if you plan to go then, check again with your own dates.
About the hotel

What is most special about The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike is the building itself. The main building was designed by the Japanese architect Togo Murano and is a single oval ring enclosing a round open-air courtyard that you can walk straight into from the lobby.
The hotel opened in 1986 as the Kyoto Grand Prince Hotel and was renamed in October 2020, joining Marriott's Autograph Collection at the same time.

There are 310 rooms, all renovated once in 2017–2018. Even the entry-level king and twin rooms are about 37 to 40 square meters, which is spacious for Kyoto. The club floors are the 7th and 8th floors, and the club lounge is on the 1st floor, with breakfast, afternoon tea and an evening cocktail hour.

For location, it is beside Takaragaike Park in Sakyo Ward, right next to the Kyoto International Conference Center. Take the Karasuma Line subway to Kokusaikaikan station, exit at 4-2, and it is about a 3-minute walk; it is about 20 minutes by subway to Kyoto Station and about 16 minutes to Shijo station. A taxi back from the Gion area takes about 20 minutes.
Honestly, it is a little far from sights like Kiyomizu-dera and Gion, which is why its price is much lower than the hotels in the city center. On the other hand, there are almost no tourists around, and a morning walk in Takaragaike Park (about 5 minutes from the hotel) has a quiet you cannot get staying downtown.

Reference price (checked 2026-10-08): for a 4-night stay from February 1, 2027:
- A king room (Guest Room 1 King) through the accredited advisor channel is US$92 a night (before tax, with breakfast for two), and the 4-night tax-included total shown on the booking is US$464.07;
- With the free 4th night removed, the room charge including service charge and consumption tax comes to about US$348;
- In addition, Kyoto's accommodation tax is paid at the hotel at ¥400 per person per night. The hotel confirmed it is not charged for the free 4th night, so for two people it is ¥2,400 in all (about US$15). The 4 nights total about US$363, or about US$91 a night.
For the same dates, the Marriott member rate is US$396.79 for 4 nights at the cheapest without breakfast, and US$548.20 for the member rate with breakfast for two (both include service charge and consumption tax; the accommodation tax is likewise paid separately). In other words, after the 4th night is removed, even with breakfast included this rate is still about US$49 lower than the cheapest member rate without breakfast.
Cancellation policy: this rate is paid at the hotel. For a February 1 check-in, you can cancel free of charge until January 30, 2027; after that, cancellation costs ¥15,950.
How the 4th night is deducted
This needs to be explained up front, or anyone checking prices themselves will probably think we got it wrong.
When you look up this rate in the booking system, all 4 nights are charged at the full price, and the total on the booking is exactly the same as the regular price, with no sign of which night is free. We found it odd at first and wondered whether the offer was real, so we wrote to the hotel to ask.
The hotel's reservations department replied: the total is calculated for 4 nights when you book, and the 4th night is only waived when you actually pay. After booking, the hotel can recognize that it is a 4th-night-free reservation, and the club floor's 3rd-night-free works the same way. We followed up, and the hotel confirmed that the service charge and consumption tax for the free night are waived as well, and that the night waived is the last night regardless of whether nightly prices differ.
So seeing the full price for 4 nights on the booking is normal (we have written a separate article on how this kind of offer is calculated and what to watch for: Stay 4 pay 3, why does the booking still show the full price?). After booking for a guest, we usually also write to the hotel with the confirmation number and ask them to confirm the offer has been applied, so it does not get missed at check-out.
Hotel facilities

Breakfast is at the main restaurant ITO-ZAKURA, mostly Western dishes on ordinary days, with Japanese cuisine also at lunch and dinner from Friday to Sunday and on holidays.
Note that the hotel's former Chinese restaurant, Japanese restaurant and lobby lounge closed in January 2025. There are fewer dining choices than before, so if you want to eat in central Kyoto and come back in the evening, leave some travel time.
For an evening drink, Bar Ascot is the hotel's main bar, in the style of an English pub, open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and closed on Thursdays (except holidays). The garden also has a sukiya-style tea house, also designed by Togo Murano, serving kaiseki at lunch and dinner, with dinner needing a reservation 7 days ahead.

The fitness center is open 24 hours. In-room massage and aromatherapy treatments can also be arranged.
Booking advice
The math is above: the 4th-night-free rate with breakfast for two comes out lower than the cheapest Marriott member rate without breakfast. So the only real requirement is staying 4 nights.
If you are only in Kyoto for two or three nights, the same partner program has another rate: stay 2 nights or more and get a ¥10,000 hotel credit per room, with the room rate the same as the regular advisor rate, also including breakfast for two. The two rates cannot be combined; pick by how many nights you are staying.
Advisor perks
The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike is also on our luxury hotel advisor perks list, under Marriott's preferred partner program. Book with us at the cash rate and the perks usually include daily breakfast for two, one hotel-specific perk (mostly a credit, with some hotels substituting a dinner for two, spa or transfers), and space-available upgrades, early check-in and late check-out, with no membership status to maintain and no thresholds to meet. The 4th-night-free rate in this article already includes breakfast for two.
