7 Best Luxury Hotels in Kuala Lumpur

Rates in line with booking direct, plus daily breakfast and hotel credit

Kuala Lumpur's luxury hotels revolve around two points. One is KLCC at the foot of the Petronas Towers, with parks, malls and landmarks outside the door and the highest room rates; the other is Bukit Bintang and the KL Sentral area, the former next to the shopping district and night market, the latter at the start of the airport express line, the easiest for getting in and out of town. Go a little further out and residential areas such as Bangsar and Damansara Heights hide a few design-led hotels that are quiet and much friendlier on price.

The seven hotels in this article were picked one by one from the Kuala Lumpur hotels on sale in our perks program, running from a little over US$100 to nearly US$400 a night, so you can match one to your budget.

Here are all the deals currently running (click a hotel name to check prices directly):

Three hotels in Kuala Lumpur hold Michelin Keys; this article covers two of them, the Four Seasons and The RuMa, both with one Key.

Hotel Offer Book by Eligible stay dates
Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur Up to 20% off when booking early, with breakfast for two and a hotel credit By December 31, 2026 Stays through December 31, 2026

First, a word on how we checked prices: all prices below are advisor-channel rates for a 3-night stay for 2 adults checking in on November 1, 2026, including taxes, worked out as the 3-night total divided by 3 for an average nightly rate, in US dollars. This channel rate is what we can get when booking for guests as an accredited travel advisor; it comes with a set of perks that can't be booked through public channels, such as breakfast, a hotel credit and upgrades subject to availability. The specific perks are described in each hotel's section, and before booking we verify them with each hotel one by one before putting them on the guest's confirmation.

The hotels are ordered by average nightly rate from low to high, so you have a sense of the range as you read down.

Our full list of perks hotels (over 3,000 of them) is here: Global luxury hotel perks list. Click through and it automatically filters to Kuala Lumpur hotels, and we can check prices for any of them the way this article does.

Alila Bangsar Kuala Lumpur

Exterior of Alila Bangsar Kuala Lumpur

Alila Bangsar opened in 2018 with 143 rooms, tucked into the upper floors of a mixed-use building in Bangsar called The Establishment. The interiors were done by the Shanghai-based studio Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, the duo of Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, whose trademark is a mix of concrete, dark wood and brass.

The hotel's public areas are all pushed up to the high floors: the lobby and the French restaurant Entier are on the 41st floor and the pool is on the 40th, all of it facing the Kuala Lumpur skyline, with the Petronas Towers and KL Tower both in view. Entier follows a zero-waste, root-to-leaf, nose-to-tail approach and has a strong reputation in the local dining scene.

It is a short drive from the city center, in exchange for quiet and noticeably lower room rates. If your budget is limited but you don't want to compromise on design, this is the best-value choice in this article.

Reference price: most of the year (except for certain peak dates) about US$93–115 a night before tax. Taking a November 1, 2026 check-in as the example, the advisor-channel rate including taxes averages US$116 a night, US$349 for 3 nights, refundable, exactly level with the regular public rate for the same period. The hotel's member refundable rate is about US$105 a night, so the advisor rate is about 10% higher, in exchange for breakfast for two and a hotel credit – the breakfast for two alone is worth more than that small difference. Booking through the advisor channel usually also includes a welcome amenity and an upgrade subject to availability. Check the latest price for this hotel →

Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara

The pool at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara

Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara has 312 rooms and sits in Damansara Heights, a traditional wealthy neighborhood of Kuala Lumpur that is quiet and green, about a dozen minutes' drive from downtown.

For dining, Kwee Zeen is the all-day restaurant, serving pan-Asian food with French techniques, so Malay, Chinese, Indian and Western breakfasts are all available in one place. Its spa is the first hotel spa in Malaysia to bring in a Turkish bath, and the pool is on a terrace level, which looks good when lit up at night.

If you want to be away from the bustle without giving up five-star service, this one suits well.

Reference price: most of the year (except for certain peak dates) about US$110–122 a night before tax. Taking a November 1, 2026 check-in as the example, the advisor-channel rate including taxes averages US$158 a night, US$473 for 3 nights, refundable. All the cheaper rates on public channels for the same period are non-refundable, and the advisor rate is only about 3% above the regular public rate, yet it is the only refundable option available for this date. Booking through the advisor channel usually also includes breakfast for two, a hotel credit, a welcome amenity, and early check-in, late check-out and an upgrade subject to availability. JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur

The lobby of JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur

JW Marriott is on Bukit Bintang's main street, directly connected to The Starhill mall, with brand flagship stores downstairs and the whole Pavilion and Bukit Bintang night market street a few steps away. For ease of shopping and late-night snacks, this one ranks first in this article.

For dining, Shook! is the best known, putting four open kitchens in one space; there are also the Cantonese Luk Yu Tea House, the Japanese buffet Jogoya and the Middle Eastern Tarbush. It has a large room count and full banquet and meeting facilities, and is a common venue for local events.

Reference price: most of the year (except for certain peak dates) about US$129–132 a night before tax. Taking a November 1, 2026 check-in as the example, the advisor-channel rate including taxes averages US$159 a night, US$476 for 3 nights, non-refundable at this price. The regular public rate for the same period is about US$143 a night and the hotel member rate about US$136, so the advisor rate is about 10% higher, in exchange for breakfast for two, a hotel credit and a welcome amenity – a difference of a dozen or so dollars a night is made up by one breakfast for two. Booking through the advisor channel usually also includes an upgrade subject to availability. Check the latest price for this hotel →

Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur

The lobby of Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur

Mandarin Oriental opened in 1998 with 632 rooms and suites plus 51 serviced apartments, the largest hotel in this article. It sits right beside KLCC Park, separated from the Petronas Towers only by a stretch of lawn and water features, and it's a two- or three-minute walk into the Suria KLCC mall.

The Petronas Towers view room is its most sought-after room type, and the pool also faces the Petronas Towers. For dining, Lai Po Heen serves Cantonese food and Mosaic handles all-day dining, both long-standing places with solid local reputations.

For location, there is no more central hotel in Kuala Lumpur than this one. If it's your first visit and you want to see the landmarks all at once, staying here is the easiest.

Reference price: most of the year (except for certain peak dates) about US$164–205 a night before tax. Taking a November 1, 2026 check-in as the example, the advisor-channel rate including taxes averages US$240 a night, US$721 for 3 nights, non-refundable at this price, exactly level with the public channels for the same period. If you need refundable, another advisor channel at the same hotel is about US$283 a night refundable, and both include perks. Booking through the advisor channel usually gets you, in addition, breakfast for two, a hotel credit, a welcome amenity and an upgrade subject to availability. The RuMa Hotel and Residences

The pool at The RuMa Hotel at night

The RuMa opened in 2018 with 253 rooms and suites, next to KLCC, a short walk to the Petronas Towers and Pavilion. The name comes from the Malay word rumah, meaning home, and the whole hotel's design tells the story of Malaysian crafts and materials, with pewterware, rattan weaving and Peranakan tile elements scattered throughout.

For dining, ATAS serves Malaysian food with a modern approach and is the hotel's signature. The pool is on a seventh-floor terrace, with one side facing the Petronas Towers, and once the lights come on after dark it's the most photogenic spot in this article.

If you want to stay close to the Petronas Towers without a standardized big-chain product, this is a rare choice in Kuala Lumpur.

Reference price: most of the year (except for certain peak dates) about US$131–294 a night before tax. Taking a November 1, 2026 check-in as the example, the advisor-channel rate including taxes averages US$243 a night, US$729 for 3 nights, refundable. The public refundable rate for the same period is about US$219 a night, so the advisor rate is about 10% higher, in exchange for breakfast for two, a hotel credit and a welcome amenity, plus an upgrade and late check-out subject to availability. The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur

The Botero horse sculpture in the lobby of The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur

The St. Regis opened in May 2016 with 208 rooms and suites, at KL Sentral, next to the terminus where the airport express arrives in town; from Kuala Lumpur International Airport it is only half an hour, with no luggage to wrestle.

Its rooms are among the largest in the city, each with a separate living area and a walk-in closet, and every room has a butler. Art is another of its strengths: the lobby has Botero's 3.5-meter black horse sculpture, and the corridors have murals by Mark Evans etched into leather with a knife. The Astor Bar is the hotel's social hub, and Crazy Rich Asians filmed there.

Reference price: most of the year (except for certain peak dates) about US$268–305 a night before tax. Taking a November 1, 2026 check-in as the example, the advisor-channel rate including taxes averages US$321 a night, US$964 for 3 nights, non-refundable at this price, level with the regular public rate for the same period. At the same price, booking through the advisor channel usually gets you, in addition, breakfast for two, a hotel credit, a welcome amenity and an upgrade subject to availability. Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur and the Petronas Towers at night

The Four Seasons opened in 2018 and occupies the upper half of a 65-story tower right next to the Petronas Towers, with only a road between the two buildings. It has 209 rooms and suites, with interiors by Hong Kong's AB Concept, and the floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Petronas Towers and KLCC Park right into the room.

For dining, Yun House serves Cantonese food and Curate is the open-kitchen all-day restaurant, with several more bars and afternoon tea spaces. A luxury mall is connected downstairs, and the pool and spa are on a high-level terrace.

If your budget allows and you want the best facilities and service in Kuala Lumpur, this is the one.

Reference price: most of the year (except for certain peak dates) about US$342–369 a night before tax. Taking a November 1, 2026 check-in as the example, the advisor-channel rate including taxes averages US$390 a night, US$1,170 for 3 nights, non-refundable at this price. Booking through the advisor channel usually gets you, in addition, breakfast for two, a hotel credit, a welcome amenity and an upgrade subject to availability. This hotel also currently has an early-booking offer listed separately; see the deals table at the start of the article. Check the latest price for this hotel →

Closing thoughts

From Alila Bangsar at US$116 a night to the Four Seasons at US$390 a night, the seven Kuala Lumpur hotels differ in price by more than a factor of three, but compared with other big Asian cities, the same money buys noticeably more in Kuala Lumpur. For location, look at Mandarin Oriental and the Four Seasons; for quiet, Sofitel Damansara and Alila Bangsar; for shopping, JW Marriott; for space and service, The St. Regis; for design and local flavor, The RuMa.

The two worth singling out among the seven are Sofitel Damansara and Alila Bangsar: one is only about 3% above the public non-refundable rate yet is the only refundable rate you can book for that date; the other lets you stay in a Neri&Hu-designed building for US$116 a night, breakfast for two included. Picking out value like this is where the perks channel earns its keep.

These prices are the perks-channel rates we can get as an accredited travel advisor, and they come with extras such as breakfast, a hotel credit and a welcome amenity that can't be booked through public channels.

If any of these seven appeals to you, book with us at the cash rate and you get these perks, with no membership to maintain and no thresholds to hit. The perks are worth real money.
