Oahu is Hawaii's busiest island. Honolulu's airport is here, and most people land in Hawaii for the first time on Oahu. The island's luxury hotels cluster in two places: Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, where hotels sit one after another and the view east is Diamond Head; and Ko Olina on the west coast, about 24 miles from Waikiki, a resort built around man-made lagoons and much quieter. The six hotels in this guide were picked one by one from the Oahu hotels on sale under our perks programs, with rates from a little over US$350 to over US$1,200 a night, so you can match one to your needs and budget.

One thing to note up front: the February dates used here fall in Hawaii's high season. Many North Americans come to escape winter, and mid-December to mid-April is also humpback whale migration season, with February and March the peak. The prices in this guide are therefore on the high side for the year, and spring and fall low-season dates will be noticeably cheaper.

In the 2026 MICHELIN Keys selection, Four Seasons Ko Olina in this guide is a first-time one-Key hotel this year.

First, how we check prices: all prices below are for a February 1, 2027 check-in, a 3-night stay, 2 adults, taxes included, at the advisor-channel rate, shown as the 3-night total divided by 3 for an average nightly rate, in US dollars. The advisor-channel rate is what we can get when we book for clients as an accredited travel advisor. It comes with a set of perks you cannot book through public channels, such as breakfast, hotel-specific perks and space-available upgrades. Each hotel's section describes its specific perks, and before booking we confirm them with the hotel one by one and write them into the client's confirmation.

Many Hawaii hotels also charge a nightly resort fee. Some include it in the room rate and some collect it at the hotel, and before booking we confirm this with the hotel.

Hotels are ordered by average nightly rate from low to high, so you can read straight through with a sense of the price range.

Our full list of perks hotels (over 3,000) is here: Global Luxury Hotel Perks List. Click through and it automatically filters to Honolulu hotels; we can check prices for any of them, just as in this guide.

The Laylow, Autograph Collection

Mid-century modern guest room at The Laylow, Waikiki

The Laylow is a Marriott Autograph Collection boutique hotel that opened in 2017, converted from a 1967 building for about US$60 million, with 251 rooms. The whole hotel follows the mid-century modern style of 1960s Hawaii, with monstera-pattern wallpaper, wooden furniture and ukuleles in the rooms, and a name that means to lie low and relax.

The hotel is on Kuhio Avenue in the middle of Waikiki, a street back from the beach and a few minutes' walk away. There is a pool on the 2nd floor with loungers half in the water; Hideout is the hotel's restaurant and patio bar, lit with fire pits at night, and a popular spot in the neighborhood.

If you want some design in your stay and would rather spend your money on meals and boat trips, this is the best value in this guide.

Reference rate: for most of the year (except certain peak dates), about US$246–303 a night before tax. For a February 1, 2027 check-in, the tax-included advisor-channel average is US$351 a night, US$1,053 for 3 nights, prepaid, and once booked it cannot be changed or refunded. For the same dates, the hotel's public prepaid rate for the same room type is about US$317 and a comparable refundable room on Expedia is about US$334, so the advisor rate is 5% to 10% higher; the breakfast for two and credit in the perks can make up the difference. Perks usually include daily breakfast for two, one hotel-specific perk (mostly a credit), and space-available upgrades, early check-in and late check-out. Check this hotel's latest price →

Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa

For dining, SHOR is the ocean-view restaurant, The Buffet is the all-you-can-eat option, and SWIM is the poolside bar.

Ka Laʻi Waikiki Beach, LXR Hotels & Resorts

Ocean-view room at Ka Laʻi Waikiki Beach

Ka Laʻi Waikiki Beach opened in 2009 as the Trump International Hotel Waikiki, and in February 2024 was renamed and joined Hilton's LXR brand. From June 2025 the hotel spent about US$100 million on its first major renovation since opening, and reopened in summer 2026, so the rooms are all newly fitted.

The hotel is on Saratoga Road at the west end of Waikiki, right next to Fort DeRussy Park, a few minutes' walk to the beach and away from the most crowded stretch of Kalakaua Avenue. The rooms take a residential approach, each with a kitchen and a private balcony, and higher-floor rooms look out over all of Waikiki Bay. The hotel also has an infinity pool and a sun deck.

For dining, Kini Room is the signature restaurant, Bloom Cafe & Restaurant is the all-day restaurant, and Muse Lounge is the lobby bar.

If you want a newly renovated room and a kitchen to put a few meals together yourself, this is probably the best fit.

For dining, Sushi Sho is an omakase sushi restaurant from Tokyo that runs only two seatings a night; Solera serves Hawaiian local cuisine, Quiora does handmade pasta, and there is a Dean & DeLuca downstairs.

The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort, Waikiki

The Royal Hawaiian pink palace with Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head

The Royal Hawaiian opened on February 1, 1927, and February 1, 2027 is exactly its one hundredth anniversary. The building is a pink Spanish-Moorish structure known as the "Pink Palace of the Pacific," and served as a rest center for U.S. forces in World War II. The hotel closed for a major renovation in 2008 and reopened in January 2009, joining Marriott's Luxury Collection brand.

The hotel sits in the middle of Waikiki Beach, across from the Royal Hawaiian Center shopping mall, with Kalakaua Avenue right outside. The gardens are planted with tropical plants, and the pink beach umbrellas on the sand are Waikiki's most recognizable sight.

For dining, Azure is the seafood restaurant, and the beachside Mai Tai Bar is one of Waikiki's best-known bars; having a Mai Tai there while watching the sunset is a must-do for many visitors to Hawaii.

It was formerly the JW Marriott Ihilani and reopened under the Four Seasons name after a major 2016 overhaul, and is the only Four Seasons on Oahu. The hotel sits right on a lagoon whose water is ringed by reef, with gentle waves, ideal for kids splashing around and paddleboarding.

For dining, Mina’s Fish House is chef Michael Mina's seafood restaurant, Noe is an Italian restaurant, and Mānalo Lounge serves sushi and Asian dishes.
